Campania :: Italy Travel Photography

(…and a little bit of Lazio, but you wouldn’t know it if I hadn’t told you.)

There are exactly twenty regions in the country of Italy. Over eleven days of in-country time, we rode through a total of eight and slept in six of those. So, as you can imagine, there was a lot to see and quite a bit to do – and our sleep schedule and weariness in the midst of delight was complete and total proof of the matter.

But it was amazing, for me, from start to finish and I’d be lying if I told you that I’m ready to give it up. Because, frankly, I’m not.

This trip gave me a lot of perspective in all manners of living. Love, relationships, food, beauty, culture… time.
It was an abrupt sort of shift in perspective that shakes you from your slumber, starting with your very first, tiny cup of caffè espresso.

So here is a taste of our taste of Campania – the first of the six regions we stayed in, a portion of southern Italy which won my awe from the very first sight of that indescribably colorful sea. The place our new year began, Campania is home to Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri – our first stopping points on the tour. Places of rugged beauty, historic consequence, the birthplace of pizza, cities built into cliff-sides, fireworks and mountaintops; I couldn’t have imagined a better, more personable place to start our trip.
